For those in the know, Michigan is an underrated jewel. Having always lived here, I often think of it as the California of the midwest: endless white sand beaches, glowy light, and if you know where to go, dunes.

For Pria & Nolan's engagement photos, I head to the sunset coast. With summer long past (but mostly because of the hike, we joked) we had it all to ourselves.

Maybe it's the grassy dunes overlooking a vast Lake Michigan, or the stretch of quiet coastline, or both. But there's something special about this place, and about experiencing it together.

A well-kept, not-so-secret secret.
